Te Tumu Paeroa, in partnership with Quayside Holdings, is investing $30m to build 10 kiwifruit orchards on Māori land in the Bay of Plenty and Gisborne in 2017-2018.
Irricon has been working with Te Tumu Paeroa to undertake due diligence on the selected blocks to ensure that there is water available for irrigation and frost protection. We also manage the resource consenting process from analysing the pump test data to lodging the application and answering any questions from the council regarding the applications. We have been engaged by BCI and Amuri Irrigation Schemes to audit their Environmental Management Strategy (EMS). An EMS sets out how they will set about achieving nutrient limits, Farm Environment Plan auditing processes, reporting on outcomes and ensuring that the schemes deliver both environmental gains, and better management and more efficient resource use
Irricon is the Environmental Manager for the Lower Waitaki Irrigation Scheme. In our role, we are responsible for the preparation and implementation of an Environmental Management Strategy (EMS) to ensure that the scheme is a highly reliable and sustainable community water supply company delivering low cost effective water efficiently while respecting our environment by encouraging best practice.
This includes the roll out of Farm Environment Plans for the shareholders, nutrient budgets, and development of Good Management Practices specific for the scheme. We are also responsible for ensuring that the scheme holds all necessary resource consents, and compliance with these.
